Be Proactive, Insure your Personal Property
Washington law does not require you to insure your personal property stored at a self storage facility. We recommend you insure your goods however, as you are solely responsible for the items stored in your unit.
There are several different options for insuring your personal property and some are at no additional cost to you:
If you are a homeowner, you likely have homeowners insurance. In most cases, your homeowner’s Insurance policy will cover your personal items stored at a self storage facility at no additional cost. Talk to your insurance provider for details.
If you are a renter that purchased rental insurance, your policy may cover your personal items stored at a self storage facility at no additional charge. Talk to your insurance provider for details.
